My dad's first tractor (he started with horses and mules) was a used 37 JD B on steel bought in 39. He ran that a couple years and in 41 traded it in on a brand new B on rubber. That first one was the only steel wheeled tractor he ever owned.

Those two were both power fuel tractors but he said he soon learned to just run them on what he called "white gas". Had more power and didn't have to worry about starting on one fuel and switching over. I'm not sure what white gas was, but I presume maybe it was early unleaded gas???? I think he said it costs a little more than the power fuel but the tractor had better power and ran better. Didn't have to worry about fouling plugs on light loads.
