cropsey, il 61731 | Thanks. I was wearing a "adventure bike" full face helmet and a joe rocket jacket with a back, shoulders and elbow padding. Had I been wearing my road racing suit with hard plastic padding, I probably would have walked away. I've told myself if I get another bike, I'm going to put a detector system on it like they have on cars (apparently they are not expensive from what I saw). I'd also go back to the road race hard plastic in the jacket.
It is a tough thing to leave it behind since it sort of defined me (apart from being a Christian). I really enjoyed it. I've been riding street bikes since I was 18 (bought it at college without parental consent) so we'll see if I can let it go. Idon't care to make fear based decisions.
I just had the high contrast CT scan and it shows the aneurysm is big enough to require an operation. I have a couple of other tests on Friday then meet with the surgen again next wednesday. Some others have posted about going thru this and getting along pretty well. The folks I grow pigs for thought was in my mid 50's (I'm 65) and it seems like I heal pretty fast. So, if I'm still around I could be on a combine in October (6-8 weeks recovery).
I just want to say that this group has been around forever (I was on the original site and have the distinction of being kicked off the boiler room on the "new" site). With coffee shops kind of going away, this has been a nice substitute. I've learned a lot from guys now long gone. It's been a blessing to be able to ask a question and find someone that's had the same experience. Google and AI work, but I find the direct experience of a person works better for me. | |
