NW Illinois | Everybody seems to be at each others throat over how it should be I thought I would add some humor.
Here's the story from my Coop career as a manager and salesman.
Coop hired an outside sales trainer that was used by the industry at the time and we had a multi day training session. Basics of the training is seed salesman is the professional. 3 farm stops system. 1. Combine ride to discuss next year's crop plan. 2. Meet to give farmer his seed order, discuss any small changes. 3. Pickup check. Farmers don't pick seed the professionals do that for them. Highlight for me is he told all of them to stop dressing like a farmer, that you are a professional business man. Trade in the Wranglers for Khaki dress pants and carry a clean sport's coat with you to put on before meeting with the customer.
I quit the session after day one for fear I would get fired for punching the instructor(being serious). A bunch of the impressionable young minds took on the new dress code suggestion and you can about guess how that went on the farm.
