Subject: Update

Cherokee County, Northwest Iowa
I tried RT's suggestion: tapped the brakes, the engine RPM stayed the same, so "the torque converter isn't locking up" (this is all new to me).

Took some time today, and did the experiment better and under exact same conditions. Set cruise at 55 mph, same flat road, same direction, etc.

Took RPM readings, in the order of L5, then L6, and then dropped it into D.

2018: 1,750, 1,400, and 1,400.

2017: 2,250, 2050, and 1,350. So it appears that in L5 and L6 of this truck, the torque converter "isn't locking up". Will be taking it to the dealership soon.

I drive the 2018, wife drives the 2017, I occasionally drive the 2017-we have never complained about rough shifts or any problems with transmission in either pick-up (we both just put the transmission in D and go). The AFM kicking in and out we don't even notice that. Only discovered this difference screwing around experimenting with the AFM on and off. Maybe my friend helped me discover a problem which I didn't know I had with the 2017.

Thanks for all the replys. Regards, Bruce
