Jeffersonville, OH | We have a couple rentals with good renters, but we've had bad ones. Lots of good suggestions on how to let good ones come to you...I have a friend who is a realtor and owns or manages a TON of properties, he always goes and looks at where they are currently living before allowing them to rent from him or one of his properties, lets you see how they live when you just drop by to talk one evening.
I'm sure you know other farmers who are landlords too, most have probably been asked if they know of any houses for rent. Talk to some you might trust in the area and see if word gets out.
Also don't make them the cheapest thing around and that helps cut down on the possibility of issues.
