| Just had a seed dealer stop and try and sell me some seed.
I almost said, "I've already got all my seed bought for next year."
Then I realized, these guys are stopping earlier and earlier every year because we tell them that. Let's quit feeding salesmen that BS line.
Grow a set and tell them the truth. If you're not going to buy from them, just say so. Whether you're happy with your current supplier, don't care for the salesperson, or think they sell sh*tty seed, just be honest.
As long as everyone keeps saying, "I already bought my seed," salesmen are going to keep moving their selling season earlier and earlier because they don't want to be the guy who's too late.
Maybe if enough of us were honest, we'd get back to buying seed in November or December—January on a late year—instead of having seed season start before the combines are even put away.
I told the guy I was happy where I was and he went on his way. I used to be a seed dealer, and I really appreciated the people that had enough balls to tell me no, and despised the people that lied to me. | |
