Oregon | hi I have been spraying 48 oz paraquat and 4 oz li700 on my clover 5-7 days before harvest. I'm using a stripper header to harvest it. if i swath and it rains its bed, never drys out...or I would swath.
the clover is also not very tall, so the stripper header is running 2 inches off the ground.
my problem is on some ridges the clover stems are still green and tonight so green that it plugged my chopper, I really didn't pay much attention to what I was pulling out but I know I saw some stems, some leaves and the husk holds that holds the seed.
I'm tempted to run a higher rate of paraquat on some of the stuff I haven't sprayed . What rate would you try?
I'm afrraid if I put to much on it melt down and only be a half inch tall and make harvest impossible.
what do I do about the stuff that I have put the 48 oz on ? just deal with it? I have a couple days until I'm caught up to the sprayer, the seed heads are dry and fall apart in my hand when I rub them in my hand after lunch. it might be 10% of the field it really just depends on the field some fields the ridges are really green, hard to get the exact rates needed to dry the ridges and not total melt down the gravel bars.
I usually start around 70 degrees and 55% humidity. I quit at about the same temp an humidity .
I didn't see anything wrong with the combine chopper, on my sts, and it was definitely wet.
I will go to swathing early next year instead of this.
