Being in an area that sees lots of acres sold at $20k+, I don't think many people buy land around here on sound financial planning, its almost all emotion including me if you see me bidding on land.
From strictly a numbers standpoint, buying farm land (strictly farmland with no development potential) now is at best a bad financial decision. Time can make it look better but that's just lucky speculation.
