| The safety stuff becomes very valuable when you are in a bad accident. We think it is overkill until you walk away from a bad one and think my 1970s/80s car would have killed me.
Where they've gone into stupidville is turning every vehicle into a home theatre. I DO NOT need an infotainment system. I need to go from point A to B reliably. For example, why can't I move a lever to engage the transmission...I don't need a knob. Why can't I just shift a lever for 4wd vs pushing buttons? Why do I need electric motors for my parking brakes that takes a special app to disengage to change brake pads? Why do I need drive by wire steering? On and on.
I don't foresee any of these modern cars (even the exotics) being still operable in 50 years like the current classics. How are you going to get an electronic part for your dash of a 2026 Dodge Hellcat in 50 years? Not to mention something like a Ferrari or Porche with their entire dashes being a video consoles.
No, they will all have gone to the crushers.
The emissions stuff is ok if it is net positive, I guess. I just don't know what that is? If it costs more to repair/operate and/or reduce the life expectancy of the vehicle then it is not a benefit to me or the environment. But it makes the tree huggers happy.
