You don't necessarily need to charge in your garage. I have a Tesla Mobile connector with a few different ends that lets me plug into an assortment of NEMA receptacles. The setup is weather resistant but not weatherproof so it shouldn't be used in a driving rain storm  or submerged. An assortment of different ends can be purchased to fit what you might have for 220V outlets. Ends cost about $35 to $45 each. I also have a wall charger installed. That device is weatherproof but should not be submerged in water. It would work well if installed on the wall of your home.
