Western illinois | I went to a big city dealer with a young gal to help her buy her first car. Of course she a budget and I helped her do the homework on interest and payments. She found a car she liked. Sat down with the salesman and he showed what theoretical payments would be based on sales price. We went to lunch and discussed it. It looked like she was going to be able to buy the car she wanted. We went back and the games began. He started showing all the dealer add ons that they just automatically put on because "everybody wants them". I said that's total bs and she's not everybody. Remove that and we'll talk. He said no can do. I told him to shove it and walked out. Poor gal couldn't believe what she just witnessed. I said welcome to the real world of crooked dealers. Never darken their door again. She said don't worry, won't happen. This dealer had multiple stores in the area and I saw cars with their emblem all over the place. I can't imagine the money they made on that extra bs. | |
