our auto industry is terminal
solution maybe dream
I've owned pickups of the us majors
1950 Chevy 1988 Chevy new $1600 1974 Chevy 6 cylinder stick stepside cheapest you could buy Ive owned and run the heck out or 3 7,3 strokers so we all know they can build the m but its purly one big mess right now as George and Tammy sang lets get back to the basic of life ha ha that may have been some other singers ha ha
early mid 60 Ford f100 300 six cylinder 3 speed stick
and dodges also
why can't Chevy build a plain Jane believe 292 6 cylinder I believe bullet proof motor 3 speed stick in a half ton with good heavy treated fram salt and same with tin work roll up windows bare essentials heater hand lock doors . build a heavier pickup with a 4 speed and 4 wheel drive ,just basic for the farmers miners builders haulers what have you something that will run 300;000 miles and then some
do same with the Ford using the 300 6 cylinder
also with the dodge I ran a couple of dodge cars with that slant 6 was a great cheap to run cars with maybe not stout enough for a pickup ??????
keep it simple give the engineers jobs on the line .
cut the profit down a bunch
I don't think they can build those old simple engines anymore due to EPA regulations. In fact, some vehicles had to be automatic transmission only because they would not always pass emissions with a stick.
That said, a simple, reliable truck is not at all a high volume vehicle, but to some extent you can still (sort of) get one if you order it. Guy down the road got a Chevy Work Truck a few years ago, had to order it, but it was about $10K cheaper than what was in the lot. Only luxuries were air condidtioning, radio, and heavy duty towing package. Been real trouble free. He said he asked the dealer if basic trucks show up used very often, he was told no. The people who buy ones with lots of options trade every few years, the ones who buy the basic work trucks drive them until they wear out.
We the people need something well made and adorable not loaded with teck junk. archie
maybe we have had enough dreamers for a while as far as engineers go another thing build same units for a decade all the same make something America can afford archie |
