I've run across some short videos of people doing it in their yards. They've got the similar shade cloth up and fans around. One guy was worried about the stem coming off the pumpkin curving so he hooked up a come-along and slowly pulled the whole thing out a bit so it was a straighter stem. 

So much tedious work but it's cool to see what's possible. Bummer on the ones that have a tiny hole to the center so they don't count or whatever that rule is?
