NE Indiana | Unless the kid makes more than 15,750 a year they don't need to file a tax return anyways. Our fair has not issued 1099's in the past, but I can't say for sure for this year because the kids haven't gotten their checks yet.
The auction proceeds would be considered earned income for tax purposes. Unearned is things like interest gains, pensions, capital gains, social security, gambling.
