That is the whole thing in a nutshell. If person said I can afford to pay $500 for a car payment and 300$ to contribute to a investment rather than saying I have 800$ extra to spend on a car can you imagine the difference they would be in. 40 years? Calculated it out would be 457000 at 5%. , 7% would 787000.
