ECIL | I would love to have a simple truck with a solid V-8, 5 or 6 speed manual transmission, modern suspension, no big screen in the interior, etc. Today's engines are more efficient than those before, but dump a lot of the emissions components and I suspect they would be even more efficient. Personally I always liked a manual transmission over an automatic in a truck, I think the driver has better control of the drive wheels with a manual. I don't need a big screen with GPS. I don't need a radio or climate control that needs software. No heated seats or steering wheel. The truck doesn't need to be so tall that running boards are needed to step into the cab or steps needed to step into the box. And I much prefer standard cab with an 8 ft box over a 4 door and 5 ft box. Our car has a back-up camera, I refuse to use it because to me it's dangerous. There have been at least two dozen times I avoided an accident by not using it. Having too many sensors tends to dumb down driving ability and it's shown over the past few years. And I especially don't need a vehicle monitoring wherever I go. | |
