Tesla hasn't used a 12V lead/acid battery since about 2022. The low voltage control battery on Teslas, since then is a 16V (nominal) Lithium Ion battery. 
I had an early Toyota hybrid for about ten years. In that time, I replaced the control battery twice and it was about due for another when I traded it.
I've driven a Tesla for four years. I think you are misunderstanding what you are hearing about range. The advertised range is quite optimistic on what they say in the literature. The display in the car RE: range remaining is quite accurate and even a bit pessimistic as to when you will run out of charge. The computer takes into account, wind, driving speed, and elevation changes.
