You and Coup paying cash for your vehicles doesn't show up in the loan figures, and I know people that have rolled one used car loan right into another in quick succession. They represent way more loans than your sister who bought a Corolla in '09 and is still driving it, long since paid off.
I assumed they were talking about people who rolled their trade in's loan into the new loan, but you could easily be $6k "underwater" on a pickup, or any car you didn't negotiate well on. | |
