Good job so far. Here some guys put 2 inch foam boards under to protect base, if I tried I would use heated water lines in soil to keep perfect temp, then grow light at night, the fan is a good idea, Orondis is super fungicide for your pumpkins
Thanks
I thought about foam under the pumpkins but some people report problems with mice chewing through it. I went with a layer of perlite then plastic then cement board with play sand.
I did use gutter deicing cables in the soil when the plants were first transplanted into their little hoop houses for the first few weeks outside.
Adding light is definitely something I want to pursue, in the future I would like to put up a high tunnel so that I can control water better and add led lighting, this would also let me use insect netting to better control cucumber beetles, they have been my biggest problem so far.
I sprayed orondis opi last week, it's one of about 8 fungicides in my rotation, I'm doing a 7-10 day fungicide and insecticide rotation.
I have a problem with not being able to do something halfway so these giants and all the supplies and infrastructure have gotten out of hand lol |
