I've seen a few EV dirt bikes around, and except for limited range, there isn't really a bad thing I can say about them. The better (or maybe more full featured) ones I have seen have a way you can dial the power to what you are comfortable with, and on one bike (wish I could remember which one) the power can be dialed from 'this is lame and boring' to 'HOLY C***'. I mean turned way up, it is on par with the high output 450 dirt bikes, and in many cases would probably be faster because you lose no power to the ground with shifts (if you race an ICE bike in a slight uphill drag race the ICE bike runs right with it, but every 'shift' falls back a bit). Also, no stalling because you are in the wrong gear. With the no shifting and odd sewing machine sound to take away the normal cues you use to judge speed, you (or at least me) gets the impression it goes slower, but if you get out the stopwatch, you are not. | |
