I agree with the previous post. Drainage in irrigated arid soil is usually there to prevent salt problems with salts coming to the surface.
I assume you are using furrow or surface irrigation, and I can see where the tile could be an issue where the soil is saturated.
Talk to an irrigation engineer or extension person who has more information.
