Looking for opinions/thoughts, how much more are you willing to pay. Either $/acre or a percentage higher for land that adjoins your main farm?
Thanks,
Depends on the farm.
My family has had 3 chances to buy the farm across the road from the HOME place. 1/2 mile of rock road separates the farms.
Grandpa passed on it.
Dad passed on it.
I passed on it a few years back.
It didn't make any sense to buy it. It is not a desirable farm.
Would need to be discounted 10 to 25% off of similar market priced land in the area to even think about buying it.
Odds are high my sons will get a chance at it in there lifetime.
Now GOOD ground that joins us or is across the road would command $500 to $1000/acre premium.
Throw in a farm that you have to cross it to get to part of your land locked farm and then you are talking a HUGE premium!!!
