Subject: Giant pumpkins

SW Ohio
I have seen the topic pop up a couple times here so I thought I would post my giant pumpkins in case there is any interest.
I tried growing last year for the first time and all my pumpkins aborted due to disease.
That just fueled my obsession to try even harder to get one of these things to a competition scale this year.
The first pumpkin is 46 days after pollination and is estimated to be 1005 lb. There is still a long way to go to keep it growing until October and hopefully 2000+ lb.
These things are difficult to keep alive and healthy as long as is needed to get a really big fruit.
The one on the skid loader stopped growing between day 35 and 40 at about 800lb, probably yellow vine disease.
I'm already planning on improvements to my growing program for next year.
If anyone is interested in trying to grow one let me know, I was able to save seeds from the one that I took out last week.
