NCKS
Logistics and labor cost money. Those costs go up almost exponentially as you go away from the home base. Planter breaks by the farm, you fold it up pull it to the shop to fix it. Planter breaks 15 miles from home base if you're lucky you wait 20 minutes for someone to bring you service truck and hope they bring the right parts or wait 20 mins for wife to come get you then take you home so you can get the service truck and parts. Trucking, tending, breakdowns, travel, scouting. In the home block you just hop from field to field and all your stuff is right there. Far flung fields, if you aren't lucky enough to have people keeping you moving, productivity can halve quickly.

Bottom line, its worth money. Its worth real money. Not bid til you own it money, but real money. In the 15mile example I'd say you're pushing $20-30/ac a year compounding. Other land in that area can help that number.
