On the batteries; the new ones last much longer. Battery management systems take care of common problems. One bad cell is isolated from the pack automatically. Manufacturers understate total pack capacity and keep the reserves hidden until needed. If a single cell needs to isolated from the pack, you don't notice a decrease in capacity because of the hidden reserve being brought into play.
