Biggest issue is when last payment is made getting a satisfaction of mortgage if multiple owners, especially if quite a long term left.



This I've seen happen and all you need is one to be a problem. It could be even worst if a successor heir(s) get involved (grandkids). What I did was took out a new bank loan to pay off last couple of years payment. They got their $$$ quicker but had to sign-off .
