Franklinton, LA | My son is a marine biologist who has lived in Ocean Springs for almost 30 years. He said that when the tide changes, they have some strong currents around the end of the island. The currents have eroded the sand in some spots. You can be wading in waist deep water and then be in much deeper water a few feet away.
A lot of the local people visit the island on a regular basis. They know what can happen because over the years other people have drowned in this area. Some reports state that over 3,000 people visited the island on July 4th. Camping on the island and watching the July 4th fireworks on the Biloxi beach is a nice family outing.
My grandson and some friends were at island about daylight on July 4th. They caught some nice speckled trout and red fish on the south side of the island. | |
