I bought a cheap little Asus Zendrive disk drive to connect to my laptop. Its been a few years since I've used it but don't recall it being all that difficult to transfer photo and video files . But be aware that flash drives can and do fail. I have one here right now with a whole lot of inaccessible photos on it. Can't be read by the laptop or desktop so I don't consider flash drives permanent long term storage for anything important.
