Sw mn | 20 years ago I was a non union electrican and made just as much if not more than the union guys and had better working conditions with more freedom.
The books were a year deep, so the union guys would really drag their feet towards the end of a job. Once the job was over they were laid off for approximately one year.
The union guys who ran work never got laid off just like the company I work for did. One time we were slow for 1 month so I asked to get laid off, my van was waiting for me when we got busy again.
They might have work 25 minutes away but that doesn’t mean he will get on that job and the next job could be anywhere.
I was offered a union job multiple times, from electrician to steam fitter. They are always trying to steal talent. | |
