have you always been all Jersey cows? Nice video, how long does it take to milk 300, and 2x per day or 3 milkings?
Yes we have always been registered Jersey. Milking 2x and normally 3 people in the rotary can do 200 cows per hour.
About 7000# milk per hour if you want to figure it that way.
I looked at a lot of robots and rotaries before deciding to go with a rotary. For X dollars, I could have bought 4 robots or 1 rotary. The rotary gives me more flexibility than the robots.
We are a 100% family run operation. Everyone comes in to milk cows for 1.5 hours in the morning and 1.5 hours at night. The rest of the day can be family time or field work time, or a combination of work and fun. I don't need to hire anyone to get everything done. And I don't have a robot calling me at 1am to come clean the camera or put a hose on, or reset the computer. |
