ec mn | You don't work "for" the union. You work for a contractor that is signatory to the union contract. You will likely get plenty of replies here that any union is the work of the devil. I won't go there. They are entitled to their opinion. One of the best upsides is that if a person actually makes a career out of it, multi employer pension plans make it so your pension withholdings go to one fund. No matter how many signatory contractors you work for in your lifetime, you will retire with all your money in one fund, instead of having numerous smaller pensions.
