We just shrank from 120 to 44. Started bottling own milk, have a set $ for raw milk now. Have a goal to maybe land around 60.(number for robot hopefully) by then if there is enough demand for our milk to go past that it will be the next generation who are high school ages decision/ problem to deal with and I’ll be fishing.
is your processor working with you during the transition. 44 cows is a lot of milk to sell on your own everyday, I've heard of more than one dairy going to direct route and the processor dropped them immediately, leaving them trying to build a market immediately while they try to manage through figuring out something to do with all the excess milk while they build their own market. |
