If you buy it at public auction, no.
If you buy it from a parent or relative, yes.
It seems too often people would drive around without renewing until they got caught, then give or sell their car to their spouse, child, etc, so they didn't have to pay the back taxes (sometimes for years). These were often the same people who had one 'trailer' plate, and then just moved it to whatever trailer they were pulling that day.
Amazes me the things some people would to to save $50 a year while running a new tractor/combine or driving a new King Ranch. | |
