Well that's not true at all. Duane Arnold in Iowa is being brought back online and Three Mile Island in PA is as well. Of course that power is being reserved for Google/Meta and their data centers.

If more people had solar this week, there wouldn't need to be a energy emergency. Solar produces during the peak times that the grid operators are concerned about.


Peak usage is from 4 pm to 9 pm.

I can sure get a good tan after 6 pm. *******

We need base generation already, not wind that isn’t blowing at all right now and solar that is AWOL during much of peak usage.

Duane Arnold nuke is old and took damage during the 2020 derecho that resulted in an emergency shutdown from which it never came back. TMI is, well TMI. The US needs to get with it for electrical generation. Old nuke plants and non base sources aren’t going to cut it going forward.

There wouldn’t be an “energy emergency” in IA if there weren’t 500 MW of generation capacity sitting idle because there is no wind and hasn’t been for a while.
