Subject: Popped some of my popcorn

East Central Arkansas
Made a post several days back about pulling and shelling a couple of ears of popcorn. This raising popcorn is a first for me. I did plant some a couple years ago and the coons ate all of it.
Well those first couple a ears were still really high moisture. Wouldn't have thought a kernel as hard as those were would have still been 34%. Have let the corn set and dry in a open colander and it's down to 16.4 % now. Pretty sure harvesting those ears too early didn't help. I decided to try and pop a very small batch in a heavy pans. Had to get the kernels extremely hot before they popped. They were right before being burnt. What popped did eat good though. It was small and crunchy. Will try popping a larger batch in a few days after it drys some more.
I need to pull a few more ears and see how much it has field dryed . The stalks have really dryed out the last few days with the 100 degree temps.
