I had to tell PCA I was going to an attorney to get them to release a lien. I owed them nothing, and hadn't for a while.
The auction company should make it right, unless it was specifically sold that way.
IF no luck there, there is probably a way to get a clear title. Inquire at the court house DMV about a bonded title. Texas may use a different term.
In Iowa if you have a bill of sale and no one responds back to the states letters, It can be done in a few months.
