The auctioneer may be in violation for selling it with an existing lien. Both a dealer and auctioneer have an obligation under the law to make sure the items being sold are lien free.
Typically, the auctioneer will charge the seller for conducting a lien search on non-titled items.
Any advice on how to get a 24 year old lien released on a farm pickup?
