nebraska | Lots of good suggestions already mentioned. Maybe one of the easiest things to try for free is machine settings. What rpm are you running your rotor at? In green stem I've had the best luck at the very upper end or above on the rotor rpm, around 600 or a touch faster, at least still hitting 600 while under load at operating rpm. 600 rpm on that smaller 24" rotor is probably comparable to 550 or so on the larger 30" rotor. It's too high to keep from splitting the beans a bit but it feeds much better and allows the rotor flights to take smaller bites each revolution, you'll notice the rumbling much less. I'd rather have a few splits than listen to the rumbling or end up digging another rotor out when things start getting tough end of day. I wasn't a big fan of the faster rotor rpm's until having to dig a few rotors out plugged with green stems. Running faster rpms quiets things down a lot and keeps them moving through. But the down side ... you'll have a more splits. What position is your feeder drum in? Could try moving it down if you're seeing some bunching in front of the drum. A serrated feeder chain helps a lot too. | |
