Michigan | I'm running a 2166 with Gordon bars, helical concaves, and a 25' 1020 head. Here's some other stuff I've done:
-Razor rock beater: this makes a big difference
-Replaced the front feederhouse drum with the non-rock trap drum. It's smaller and reduces this choke point. The feederhouse on the 2166/2366 is narrow and is a bottleneck.
-You lose capacity quick if you have to run the concaves tight. But, sometimes in green stem beans it's the only way so this one is easier said than done. I've only got the mickey-mouse electric reverser so it's always a question of how much you want to push things.
I generally run out of power before I run out of capacity in green stem beans. If you turn up the pump make sure your rotor drive and belt are in good shape. I upgraded my rotor variable speed drive with the heavy duty spring from the 2388. On my 2166 I will stall out the engine before anything slips.
The 1020 head is also part of the problem, they do not feed smooth. Someone mentioned a draper--I'd love to try one but there are virtually no 25' drapers around. MacDon made the 972 rigid draper in 25', it was also rebranded as a CIH 1052. People run these on 2166/2366 machines but these drapers are now over 20 years old and I've never come across one that is in acceptable condition (at least to me). | |
