Northern Indiana | Check with the schools IT people. A lot of times they have deals on computers, software and service them also.
If they are close to home or going halfway across the country makes a big difference.
Field of study also makes a difference. A civil engineer student would have different needs than an elementary education student.
When I worked for a university their IT department was a very good resource for these things.
