a) Microsoft already had "spy hooks" in their software. We just don't know where they are. Look back at the article I posted, where Microsoft revealed their backdoor because a hacker found it. That's a "spy hook."

b) It would be much more difficult to hide a backdoor in an open source OS like Linux, FreeBSD, etc. Now you have thousands of eyes looking at the source.

The ChiComs have tried - and succeeded for only a short amount of time before the backdoors or vuln's were found.
