North Central South Dakota | Was a strange spring here, didn't have much snow or spring rain but ground was fairly wet at planting time because of rain last fall. Haven't gotten much since planting. A few smaller shots of .20-.40 in June and about .25 beginning of July but nothing since. We are at about 4 inches total for the year. As the others said, planting into cool wet soil then it turning to 100° and wind for weeks straight has taken a toll. Subsoil moisture only thing keeping beans and corn hanging on for now. Corn pineapples every day and bottom leaves all yellow and dropping. Trying to tassel so not good timing. If no rain soon very likely wont get much if any corn or beans. Spring wheat a week or so out from harvest, small heads with shriveled kernels. Its not good here thats for sure.
