Subject: Gripe for the day

Pontiac, IL.
I have a 2012 Cadilac SRX AWD I bought new in the fall of 2011. Only 85,000 miles. I have been noticing, when turning on dry pavement, SOMETIMES the tires will hop/jump as if it is locked in 4WD. Had it at the dealer today, and they said the clutch pak that is in the transfer case is engaging when it shouldn't. Parts are NLA. He said this clutch pak is supposed to be electronically engaged when needed. Best he said he could do was: he found a used one out of a car with 101,000 miles. $1500 for the parts, $2200 labor. NO guaranty. That, to me, would be foolish. My gripe: Why is a clutch pak for a car less than 15 years old NLA from GM. Or is it available from somewhere else? I thought I would ask here. Service manager suggested disconnecting the driveshaft to the rear 2 wheels and go ahead driving it as a front wheel drive only. Any better suggestions, or would someone know where I could get the parts to fix it right?
