Subject: RE: Pouring Grain Bin Pad on Existing Pad

Central Iowa
We did something similar this summer. We poured a 37.5 pad for a 36 ft bin over an existing 31 foot pad that had a 30 foot bin on it.
We get freezing and thawing in Iowa. But we dug down 24 inches and 18 inches wide for a footer. Rebar around the outside and on 12 inch centers across the pad.We poured 6 inches on top of the old pad. My concrete guy thought it would be ok. We will see.
My old pad was in excellent shape. If it wound have been bad I would have tore it out and started over.
We replaced a 7500 bushel stirrator bin with a 30000 bushel holding bin.
I don't claim to know much and this is only my opinion. Thanks
