Middlesex County, Ontario | So you have codes PCU 14 and PCU 16, just replaced RE190342
Your codes point to a faulty clutch switch
PCU 014 - Clutch Switch Open/Clutch Depressed When Trying To Shift 14F/4R
PCU 016 - Clutch Engaged Switch Open >5 Minutes
Have you reset the codes since replacing RE190342? Or are these codes from before replacing RE190342? Probably these codes are active now and the RE190342 did not change anything?
Clutch Engaged Switch Test
1. Insert diagnostic fuse, engine off, transmission in park
2. Leave engine off. Navigate to address PCU 11
The corner post should read 000
Check for Short Circuit - disconnect sensor at plug, the corner post should read 000
Clutch Engaged Switch Test
1. Insert diagnostic fuse, engine off, transmission in park
2. Start engine
3. Navigate to address PCU 11
The corner post should read 001 for clutch pedal full up (released) and 000 for clutch pedal full down (to the floor). The display should change from 001 to 000 when the pedal is pushed down about 1 inch from full up.
You replaced RE190342. That sensor is used in several locations. Did you replace the right one? Item 11 is the clutch engaged switch, that's the one that the codes are pointing to. It screws in from above.
Item 12 is the same sensor but transmission oil pressure, Item 7 is the same sensor but transmission park pressure.
Theory of Operation Clutch Engaged Switch —The clutch engaged switch is one of two switches used by the PCU to sense clutch pedal position (see "Clutch Disengaged Switch"). The PCU uses the switch status signals, together with other inputs, to "decide" what gear command is necessary. The clutch engaged switch is a pressure switch and is located on the right rear of the transmission. It senses traction clutch operating oil pressure. The switch must close before pressure rises to 1350 kPa (13.5 bar) (196 psi) and open when pressure decreases to or below 1120—1220 kPa (11.2—12.2 bar) (162—177 psi). There is a 2,490 ohm internal, fixed, resistor across the open terminals of the pressure switch for diagnostic purposes. When pressure is in the normal operating range the switch is closed and sends a battery voltage signal to the PCU.
That means that if you short the harness connector you should get a 001 at PCU 11 (regardless of engine on/off, leave it off for safety).
