If you are getting some wear there can be a lot of backlash in the adjustment. To get an accurate reading you should close it down below the reading you want then open to the reading. If you are getting a computer error, there is probably a sensor or potentiometer going bad. The CR combines have a known issue. There is a potentiometer inside the actuator that you can replace to fix the problem for less than $100, the whole actuator is big money.
