Central Iowa | My son has his PPL/CFI licenses and is doing some part time work waiting on a full time CFI spot to open up. Looks like he has a chance to get that job in late Sep ealry Oct. He hasn't been overly interested in drone flying but is realizing he needs to fill the time around the various flying gigs he will.have.
Would liken to know licensing he needs to do some commercial drone application this fall primarily seeding some cover crops.
Google says the following
Yes, you can operate a drone commercially, but you must still obtain an FAA Remote Pilot Certificate (Part 107). Holding a certified Private Pilot license under 14 CFR Part 61 allows you to bypass the standard in-person written exam, but you are still required to complete a short online training course and register your credentials.Because you hold an active Private Pilot Certificate, you can earn your commercial drone certification through an expedited process:Complete the Online Training: You must complete the free FAA UAS Initial Aeronautical Knowledge Recurrent Course (ALC-677) on the FAA Safety Team website.Apply via IACRA: Create or log into your account on the FAA IACRA (Integrated Airman Certification and Rating Application) website.Submit Credentials: Submit your application through IACRA, providing your existing pilot license details and the graduation certificate from your ALC-677 course. You will need a certified flight instructor (CFI), an FAA Safety Team representative, or an examiner to verify your identity.Temporary Certificate: Once processed, you will be issued a temporary Remote Pilot Certificate that permits you to fly commercially while you wait for the permanent plastic card.When operating your drone commercially, you must ensure each flight follows Part 107 rules, including registering each drone individually and utilizing Remote ID.
