I've bought machinery from twenty-one states and either one or two provinces.   I considered another continent once, but didn't follow through with that deal.  Many of these have been in the last ten years, but there were at least nine states on the list B.I. (before internet).  The internet sure makes it easier to find stuff, no doubt about that. 

   People are people no matter where you are dealing, so far we've never really ran into someone who made it past our BS detectors.
