Subject: Harvest going well in north Iowa and mill

Latimer Iowa
I don’t want to curse anything but we have gotten started combining. It’s the best yields and quality averages we have ever had. All crops look good here. Reins Oats are standing great, I am particular on varieties and test weight is good. We do have 40 acre test plots of 4 different varieties to compare. They look good for most part, MN Amber is starting to lodge.

No till Planted end of March at 3 bpa. No fungicide applied. In bean stubble with 1.5 tons chicken litter.
MPCA and a half rate stinger for weed control. I am hoping the DC beans will handle it, we have had 7 inches of rain since sprayed and organic matter around 4.5.

Oats are running 130-200 bpa with field averages around 155 bpa. Have several 100 acres out now. Test weight of 38.5 and currently 18% moisture. We are running through the grain dryer. Had to change rasp bars out on the combine and getting much better capacity now. Abou 3900 bushel per hour.

Planting 2.0 maturity soybeans chasing the combine. DC before July 15 qualifies at FSA offices for bean acres here. Been averaging around 23 bpa on DC the past 3 years.

The mill project is coming along, planning to be receiving oats there on Sept 1. Not a lot of great pics this month as its wiring install.

Looking forward to selling oats as oatmeal for 50 cents a pound instead of raw oats for 3.50 a bushel.
Edit to add pics. Getting some little funnel clouds today.
