Wisconsin | Feeding them in bunks with bottoms where they can clean up all the salt would be best, or is there more salt in parts of it than they like?
I bet there's only an inch or two of the topsoil that's got enough salt to stop grass, if you moldboard plowed the spots, or maybe chisel plowed it, then it would sprout back after a rain, maybe some oats or rye would hide the spots and help the salt percolate. The salt wouldn't be a long term issue here, I think you get more rain in MO, but then more evaporation also, but the runoff amount is the key factor. The clay is probably so low in salt from leaching, that once it's mixed into six inches of soil it will make the grass much better, not worse. | |
